Pattern
Verb-not-verb questions
Ask 是不是, 要不要, 好不好 without stacking a second 吗.
A choice built into the verb
是不是, 要不要, 去不去, 好不好. The question is the verb repeated around 不.
This is not English inversion. Subject still comes first: 你去不去?
Do not add 吗 on top. 你去不去吗 is overbuilt for this pattern.
With objects
你要不要咖啡? Object after the whole A-not-A chunk.
Monosyllabic verbs repeat easily. Two-syllable verbs often repeat only the first syllable later (喜不喜欢) — beginners can say 喜欢不喜欢 slowly, then shorten.
有没有 is the 有 version (没, not 不).
Answers
Yes: repeat the verb (要 / 去 / 是). No: 不要 / 不去 / 不是.
好啊 is warmer than a bare 好 for invitations.
If you only remember one this week, make it 要不要.
Common mistakes
Do not invert: 去不去你.
Do not mix 没 into 是不是. 是不是 uses 不. 有没有 uses 没.
Do not treat A-not-A as rude. It is a normal yes/no tool.
Examples
Are you going or not?
Do you want coffee?
Is this good / okay?
Is he a teacher?
Do you have time?
Eat together tomorrow, okay?
Do you like it?
Shall we go now or not?
Tips
- Verb + 不 + verb; skip extra 吗.
- 有没有 uses 没.
- Answer with the verb, not English yes.
- 好不好 is a gentle invitation tag.
